Our speech for the POFACS project

POFACS (High Service Content Horticultural Products) is the project promoted by MIUR in order to develop new value solutions in the Italian fruit and vegetable sector.

The first meeting took place on 27-28 June. During our speech at CREA (in Pontecagnano Faiano – SA), we exposed the works carried out so far in terms of industrial research and development.

Specifically, the activities of interest involve innovative pre-harvest interventions to improve product safety and post-harvest process innovations for the production of high service content fruits and vegetables.

Package showing “Product sanitized with ozone”

More and more companies communicate they use ozone in their processes: The example of
OP Ancona
.

The products we usually buy provide us with a lot of information on characteristics and
processes. From “Does not contain X” to “With addition of Y” passing through “Coming
directly from … Z”.

Same holds for ozone as it indicates the high added value brought from
the gas, in terms of safety and quality. The characteristics of ozone, applicable in different
phases of the supply chain, allow the consumer and the stakeholders in the sector to be able
to take advantage of an additional ally for the correct management and use of agri-food
resources.
